Where your data lives

The short version
- Student data never leaves your computer. Class lists, rolls, attendance, behaviour notes, seating plans, parent contact records, reports and anything else the app gathers from OneSchool or Compass are saved only on the computer running OneSchool Companion. The app does not send any student data or reports to 4eq.co or to any of the services listed on this page.
- Your OneSchool, Compass and Outlook passwords are never sent to us. You type them into those sites' own windows inside the app; they go only to those sites.
- 4eq.co keeps only what it needs to run your account and licence — mainly your email address, and a name only if you give one (an alias or initials are fine).
- Our database and website servers are in Sydney, Australia. Payments (Stripe), email delivery (Resend) and the installer download (GitHub) are overseas — details below.
Saving and sharing student information
What happens to files the app creates is up to you. You can keep them on your computer, or save or copy them (essentially copy and paste) to storage your school or the Department provides — for example a school network drive, or Department-wide services such as SharePoint or OneDrive. That storage is run and governed by your school or the Department, not by us.
As with OneSchool itself and any data taken from it, nothing technically stops information from being copied — accidentally or deliberately — to storage or devices outside the Department (a personal USB drive, a personal cloud account, email). Please follow your school's and the Department's information-security and privacy rules when saving, printing or sharing anything that contains student information.

The app works offline for up to 5 days between check-ins. It sends nothing else to us — no student data, no reports, no screenshots, no usage tracking.
What 4eq.co keeps about you
- Your login: email address; your password in scrambled (hashed) form if you set one.
- Optional: a name and phone number, only if you add them. An alias or initials are fine.
- If you subscribe: school name, school postcode and school type (from the sign-up form), your plan and its status, and the Stripe reference numbers for your customer record and subscription.
- Your licence: its key (scrambled, plus an encrypted copy so you can see it in My account), and for each computer using it the scrambled identifier, Windows name, app version and when it last checked in.
- Free-trial records: your email address (and its "base" form without +tags), and Stripe's card fingerprint — a code that identifies a card without revealing its number — so each person gets one 14-day free trial of OneSchool Companion every two years.
- Feedback, suggestions and bug reports you send, and our replies.
- A testimonial, only if you offer one and we publish it (the name you choose; never your email).
We never see or store your card number — Stripe handles it. Your login is shared with the puzzle builder (voceda.com), which uses the same Sydney database.

There is no Australian option for Stripe, GitHub or Resend; we chose Resend's nearest region (Tokyo). Nothing about students passes through any of these services.
